Wonky the 73 bay...

  1. Well it's running well, Rob's had to make up a new throttle linkage as well as some more chassis repairs...it's provisionally booked in for an mot at 1pm today although this may not happen if a few wiring issues aren't sorted.

    Fingers crossed! ;)

  2. Now has added MOT...which is nice.

    Still loads to do.

  3. Congratulations on the mot pass dude

  9. A couple of pics before I drove it back home. Will give it a proper going over at the weekend, well a clean at least. :)

...and it fits in the garage heightwise, by about 3mm.

Looks great - will it get a rear bumper?

  14. Haha, yeah it bugs me as well but I've got a few issues with the bumper mounts at the mo, you'll be glad to know I've got a matching bumper avec over-riders sitting in the garage.

Of more concern at the mo is the fact it doesn't start!

The starter motor was just 'whirring' yesterday but if I put it into gear it would start, after I gave it a clean I lost evreything starting-wise, doesn't even click now, all I get is the lights on the dash. I've been underneath and all the wires are connected on the starter solenoid (was hoping the spade fitting had come loose but no), any ideas before I replace the starter motor which will be fun given the limited space I've got on the flat bit of my drive grrr! :(

  15. great work, love your busses stance 8)

  16. WOOHOO...Wonky lives!

The high I had at getting the bus home was slightly tempered by it then refusing to start, now I'm no mechanic but took a punt at the 'new' starter motor I bought being the issue. It was new...5 years ago and has sat in my gargae ever since.

So with a basic set of spanners and a couple of jacks I put the old starter back on, an easy job for you seasoned mechanics I know but a bit of a mission for me on my cramped driveway.

Started up first time and ticks over lovely, I'm over the moon to get it going again...and being able to get it tucked away in the garage for Xmas.

Hope you all have a cracking Yuletide folks, I'm having a celebratory beer or two by way of celebration. :)

  17. Loads of little jobs done, halfway through re-installing the heating...that'll be a novelty after countless bugs without it!! Next jobs will be inside getting the fridge/hob/propex etc checked over etc.

In recent days it's been doing sterling service carrying my 50cc moped around, which I bought to do the John O'Groats to Lands End charity ride this Easter.

It's a tight fit but once the front is jammed between the front seats it don't move an inch!

Fans of standard height bays may want to look away now...

  18. Tracking getting looked at next week by Type 2 Detectives as it has a tendency to 'wander' a bit at the mo!

...and you'll be glad to hear it should have the rear bumper on soon! :)
