Box and all old suspension bits have been blasted and repainted, a bit more welding was needed in the engine bay which has been sorted. Now we've got it rolling at the rear end we're looking at another notch where the trailing arms could end up hitting the chassis, nothing much, more a precautionary measure. Sitting slightly nose up currently but this will be sorted once the narrowed beam goes in. As it stands it may just squeeze in the garage as it is, I don't anticipate having to tub the front end, I'm not out to make it super-low, just low enough if that makes sense, it will be used after all. It may only come down another inch at the back, it could come down loads more but I've got a stainless back box for it that I don't want to get battered to *****! Got some t2d slam shocks for the back as well as the front, they've got plenty of potential to go a lot lower. The adjustable spring plates make it very easy to tweek. I've also treated myself to a nice Sony head unit so I can plug the ipod in, it was half price at Halfords and lights up in a similar green to the paint. Loving the journey so far and can't recommend Judgie's workmanship at RNJ Motorsport highly enough. ^-^
Couple more pics from today, not much more done, more an opportunity for my 3 year old to have a play! Next week should see the new beam go on, deformation panel in, cab floor in and some welding up front to tidy it all up... Then the driveshafts will go in out back now all the new bearings and cv boots have arrived, then we'll wire up the engine and drive off into the sunset...sounds easy if you say it quick enough!!
Appologies dude i wasent intending to burst your bubble More sort of wanting you to enjoy it for as long as possible I was just concerned that the visable areas where getting plated without dealing with the rot hiding behind
Im glad were chilled with each other dude i had no bad intentions when i posted tbh i never do Its hard conversing over the net because it take most of the human emotion out of it It seems the norm nowadays for restorers to fix the bits the mot man can see and ignore the stuff that will cause heartache and expense further down the line Ill look forward to sharing a drink with you at a show or tlb camp next year If you spend a little time with me you will see im not a nasty bloke just generally concerned about others
More pics soon and it won't get any prettier, budget for chassis repairs has already doubled and the initial estimate wasn't that low either! Bloody things!
Still not convinced it'll fit under my up-and-over garage door...despite what I've worked out to be an 8 inch drop (on the front beams highest setting)...we'll see (other options are being considered! )
