Wiring

  1. Ok I know this isn't about a bus but the principles are the same. I'm rewiring my brothers 1969 beetle from scratch following multiple diagrams from the Internet.

What doesn't make logical sense to me is the indicators. The rears run through the flasher unit and hazard switch etc. fine. The fronts run straight from the stalk to the lights, how is that going to work?

I haven't completed it yet so haven't tested them but I'm starting to second guess the diagrams.

I said to myself, "just follow the diagrams" but my logical head is saying as I do bits, how can this work?

Anybody got any info they can share?

The stalk gets its feed from the hazard switch

  3. is it a us bug? usually the fronts and rears are wired seperate due to using the indicator bulbs as brake lamps and the us hazards dont work on the fronts, i've swapped loads of us splits and early's over to eurospec wiring the fronts and rears together and spliting out the brake light circuits

  4. It's a uk spec. Thing is even in the Hanes manual it says to wire it that way.

It's a strange ass way to wire it though. Stalk to hazards then flasher then back to stalk and finally off to fronts.
