Winston - Updates during Winter in preparation for Summer.

  1. I struggle to NOT do stuff on my Bus, am always thinking of what needs to be done, or what I can modify, build, add, it's a sickness..

While in Winter here, mom will not go camping, and it's not conducive, so I grab good days to get the Caravan cover off and do things.

Added some Golf Mk1 arm rests and parcel tray is completed. Also did a general clean up and polish.

Motor is now running perfectly, no flat spots or stuttering at all. I did install my own effort at an engine extinguishing system. Basically a 2.5 Kg powder tank under the rear seat, with tubing to the engine bay and 2 large nozzles facing down above each carb. I have also fitted a fuel solenoid cut off switch under the tank, which cuts fuel supply when the ignition is turned off. I'm of the opinion that once you SEE smoke or flames, you would immediately pull over and shut off everything, then deploy the engine bay extinguisher without opening the rear engine hatch. If that tank doesn't put out the fire, (which I doubt), then grab the 2nd tank mounted up front and go fight the fire directly.

Either way, this is best effort and at least having SOMETHING there that is probably going to do the job is better than nothing. And my insurance Company is satisfied.

All in all, Winston's running like a dream right now. Not really much more to do. Need to go on a camp..

    cheers
