Window winder handle removal?

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by F_Pantos, Jan 12, 2020.

  1. Can anyone advise..how do I get this off without damaging the plastic? I'm sure there's a trick to doing it. Thanks IMG-20200112-WA0016.jpeg

  2. Peel the top plastic bit off the metal handle inside, then undo the mounting screw.

  3. Just to be certain, peel back at the spindle end? Thanks

  9. Some sod has already done that, Bazza. Cut a dirty great hole for a speaker  which is also fecked, which is why this all started. IMG-20200112-WA0022.jpeg

  10. This speaker is pining for the fjords.... fecked driver, bloody plastic cone, no way I know to fix a plastic cone:mad:

  11. Typical water damage to the rear of the card too.... IMG-20200112-WA0020.jpeg

  12. Give it a scrub with bleach, then a dollop of PVA. Fit a door membrane if you haven't got one.

  13. From the pic I cant see if it's become unattached or just split, you could try to reattach the cone with contact adhesive if it isn't split, just be careful not to pull the cone off-centre.

  14. What's the preferred supplier for a new membrane? A sheet of polythene from the local DIY store and a craft knife? Then cut to size.

  15. Split, I think.

Found the same set on eBay for £18 plus p&p, "NOS" in box, I'm beginning to think that's probably the simpler option. Lowthers they are not!

  16. There used to be someone on fleaBay doing them pre-cut. Or could cut your own. Bit of a chore.
