it used to be hard to get a word in now it's like tumbleweed town sometimes, where's all the old crowd gone, and why are 22 guests reading this? join in - if you don't use a forum it dies on it's arse. fact.

  2. Really busy at the moment, probably the same for a lot of people in the run up to Christmas.

Guests: Get registered and join in, we don't bite ;D

i don't mean the people who are really busy due to christmas it's been on a slow decline over the past few months.

maybe it's just me then missing a lot of the other big posters that have deffo gone quiet, i'll have to find some new playmates then

  6. Feelin' guilty. I have been an avid visitor to the forum for the past five years or so, but now my bus is pretty much finished so I only drop in every now and then... Sorry about that, but I'm surprised that loads of 'newbies' haven't taken my place.

Could it be competition, or did the site crashes take their toll on the bloggers??

i think when the big crash happened we lost a few but 99% of us made it our mission to rebuild, i can't decide if facebook has a bit of an effect as i don't use it, i know when there was a little bit of a fall out a month or two ago a few people left but overall the core of members who have been on here for 2 years or so still come on but deffo not as often as they did.

its moved on imo -- keep posting Rick and it will keep moving !

  10. Hmmm who knows... I think facebook might have a slight affect as its really easy to communicate that way, chat, and upload pictures e.t.c think after the little fall out like you say people left...people are less involved... who knows... hopefully next year in the run up to summer there will be more activity, more camps events e.t.c for people to get involved in xxx

One way or another the forum by default is bound to change - for some in a good way, for some it will decline (selling their bays off etc).

Who knows if it will build back up - hope so, it would be a shame to let it falls but I have had messages & spoke to people as to why they have backed off & totally understand as that's how I feel myself!

  13. More access to Internet over different devices you'd think there would be more people on here but possibly technology moved on now so much that perhaps being on forums have become old hat? There are so many options aailable and so much information out there now that I guess we're all devouring all sorts of information when online, shopping, watching online films, etc etc rather than just forum stuff.

I use forums much less than in past and do more on vw forums / websites when my van has broken down or needs some parts and come for advice. Also life gets peaks and troughs of business?

Wonder if there is a correlation with which day / time of day / time of year?

I think it's just evolving naturally. Be nice to have a few more people starting threads because it does seem to be the same ones. I don't know what is stopping people from joining in. I reckon it's less cliquey at the moment than it has been

  15. Yeah agree with comments made the show season is over and people are busy with xmas ect, theres defo a lot less people posting and a lot of old members have gone quiet.

We have all just to keep up with it as its still a good forum and tbh its still my fave place for chit chat and dub banter

The forum is just a meeting point , we share picture , jokes , thought and points of view , it isn't the be all and end all of vw type2 life - that goes on elsewhere , it goes on in your garage , on your drive , in your life and in whatever way you use your van .

When this place started we had a lot of flamboyant characters all shouting to be heard and posting things for our attention , Now later on when everyone has settled we can sort the chaff from the wheat so to speak , we have people that camp together who never knew each other before the forum , we have techie types who can answer our problems , we have people helping each other with parts , labour , advise and encouragement - be that physically or through the ether , whether or not we like it and i do btw , the forum and the people on it have evolved , new people come on here all the time and add to our friends/knowledge , they are just as helpful ,knowledgeable , interested and funny , they don't all come on shouting and balling some just subtly join in and the forum grows .

Me and you Rick - we never knew each other before this forum , since then we have camped together , swapped bits , helped each other re parts and even emotional stuff , we have become good friends and i am grateful for it .

i don't know where this all came from , maybe because i sense you are a bit down lately and your sense of humour has gone a bit , maybe its because i think the forum has changed i don't know , what i do know is - i am grateful to tlb for introducing me to good people like yourself and some others and i look forward to meeting even more next year .

The lot of people who made this forum buzz over the last few years have stopped posting, it's gone stale in my opinion coz those oldies have done all the topics over and over again, I can't get motivated to post on things we've done do death, its upto the newbies to create a good vibe like we all did a while back but we'd mostly all met a camps and shows so knew each other, this years shows have mostly been a washout and not many new members got to meet each other its easier to have the crack when you know who your dealing with

  19. I'm on here daily, posting here and there, helping where I can or just adding to posts. I start the odd thread but must admit the return response has slowed right down. I imagine it is probably the time of year more than anything, yes we have lost some old names but have also gained some new ones, such is the way of forums.

I wouldn't worry too much just yet, keep posting and having a crack. That's what I do, even if I get no response, I'm enjoying myself - hopefully others are too.

I have met a few off here and made some friends and imagine come the start of the show time it will become a hive of activity again.

  20. Still here but money for the resto has dried up a little so been busy doing other stuff.
