Why is it when you're trying to sell a camper...

Those electric conversion are the best part of £40 grand, there’s a very small market, if a market at all for a £10 k vehicle to be converted and the range is only 100 miles max

 

I will never sell my bay, it didnt cost me much so I dont care what they are worth, splitscreen values seem to be good at the moment but I have decided to keep my split screen as well, I can sign the V5s over to the kids when Im too old to drive them.

 

They're not doing any conversions until they can get the costs down. They obviously realise it doesn't add up .......... yet.

Had along chat on the phone a couple of months back, with the guy who is converting Liverpool's bus fleet .... He reckoned it's going to be another couple of years yet before it's viable for individuals because
A) the battery technology is changing, but not quickly enough
B) the warranties offered by small conversion companies will only become worth something once the chaff has disappeared ......

I wonder if when the electric revelution and ban on new fossil cars comes to pass the value of the existing cars will rise or fall and the same for the price of fuel. Cars could become like the old American classics were in Cuba!

 

As I see it, electric vehicles are coming and as prices come down and charging more available, then more folks would go electric. Against this revolution would probably be the powerful oil companies who would want to sell their fossil fuels for as long as they can.

Clearly the new cars world is changing fast and car firms want to phase out petrol and diesel vehicles and go electric as soon as they can, otherwise the Asian countries would leave the dinosaur firms high and dry.

Shame our UK government can't wake up to what is happening in the car industry, they sit and watch as firms shut down and move to Asia where they can produce their new electric vehicles to a big market that wants them.

Probably going to be another missed opportunity for us as has happened a lot in the past.

 

There are lots of problems with electric cars manly due to battery technology

Not enough lithium on the planet.
Batteries don't last much longer than 5 years, they can't be recycled and the cost of replacing them basically scraps the car.
They are much heavier so more tyres running gear and damage to the road surface
The range is poor normally around 100mile
Not enough capacity in the electric grid to cope
Lack of charging facilities without having leads across pavements

They are a option for city but for emissions reasons

The only real way is to look at why people are traveling so much and living away from where the work etc

 

Careful I think Mgbman might skupper the electric car market ....

 

I wonder why people talk about electric cars, what about hydrogen?

 

You need a lot of energy to make hydrogen and would you want to be in a crash with a tank of hydrogen behind you.

 

Is it worse than petrol??

A hydrogen bomb is worse than petrol , half a ton of lithium isn’t fun either if it gets wet ....
