  3. Im guessing the markets changed for these old buses no MOT required MEAN'S a lot of them failures are back in the market.

Its becoming cheaper to buy one and you don't have to worry to much about getting it through a MOT.

Maybe its a good thing for people wanting one and can now afford too.

looking at your for sale thread it looks like your vans in need of a full restoration, so a £4k offer isn't unreasonable in my opinion

I thought from earlier threads, quite a bit of work has been done underneath... unfortunately buyers tend to check that bit last and first impressions count for so much .

Unfortunately thats probably accurate in so much as folk that have a binner are tempted to offer there shed for sale at an inflated price. In some ways the good thing is that the market is depressed and the real good vans are actually better value and folk in the market can see that. You are far better buying an 18K van for £12k that a 4 K van for £8k Beware the 8k van, it falls right in that "affordable" bracket sucks folk in and rips there hearts out ..

Its not just rusty old VW vans that are stagnant. The life span of classics is limited, sure it may be 20 or even 30 yeas down the road, but with these brain dead brainwashed teenagers banging on about climate change there is little chance many of them will be standing in line to buy an old fosil burning gross polluter ( in there eyes) so basically you have maybee a group of people in there early 30s that might , just might carry there desire forward into the next 20 years, but after that there will be fields of classic cars waiting to be recycled .. There aint no long term future in classics asfar as useable items or investments. The best of the very best across the wide spectrum will still have some collectability, but purely as rich mans novelties, kinda like art , expensive watches, etc.. Us , the scum, will be relying on UBER or some autonomous service..

basically if you have a van your just as well to use it now, until it falls to bits, then coax it to the crusher and shoot the poor old *****er when your done..

Im building 2 cars just now, bt at the same time Ive already began selling off excess junk and about to start selling off tools and equipment .. Well, I dont want to be left with them :) Im just gonna drive the wheels of the junk I have untill I cant, by which time It will be time to surrender my licence .. Its actually panning out to be a bit like a mad max movie lol..

The market for all this old junk has shrunk, credit has caught up, stand by for the next banking collapse .. seriously .. might not be too long before your actually living in your van..

  13. I sold my type 4 on volkszone vzi after trying others sites.. and politely telling people no thank you,

  14. I fully support the school children's climate change strike but don't think that is incompatible with having an old VW camper van. It is recycling in every sense. Especially if you stick a modern, cleaner engine in it.

  15. vans are really over priced parts have gone through the roof , and are crap, no van is worth the money , unless you can afford it or really want it. loads of crap vans about .zeb i would ask ye WOULD you give 8k for your van ,

Its still cheap compared with a modern car.
What we balk at paying on an old bus you would not blink at on a newer car.
I realised that when I paid £142 for genuine VW CV joint boots. Newer VWs would be over £200 if I read the Heritage website correctly.
Even a full on Scooby conversion is less than a new engine for another car, and a mostly new T1 engine is still only £2.4k or about half the Scooby.

No longer investments just useful compact camper vans.

  18. Would it be possible to make a camper an electric powered or electric and petrol hybrid? This could be way forward

  19. Brazilian Campers down in Henfield were selling one that they'd done - priced at over £40k I think. They were also offering electric conversions, but not sure if they still are.

They've had the balls to try it in a commercial scale, so good on them, but I don't think all electric will be viable for a few years yet, but it will eventually and I'd seriously consider it then.

  20. Yes ..
