I don’t know why your all quoting me , it’s not my problem , you don’t know what goes on in my families lives but I don’t get on to you about it so just go and do what you want !
I'm afraid I disagree. I like beer because of its flavour. Coke and lemonade are so laced up with sugar that I find them totally unpalatable. That is why if I'm driving and have to moderate my alcohol intake, I prefer non-alcoholic beers. They don't taste as good as real beer but they're much better than lemonade! The breweries have fulfilled a need which does exist. Pity it's so expensive when there's no duty payable on it!
Sorry if i have offended that was not my intentions ! my comments are not personally aimed at you or others on this thread .
Agreed, my queries were not intended to offend, it appears alcohol..or "liquid " consumption whilst at the pub is a subject to be avoided..a bit like politics.
At the end of the day, whether it's to prove something to yourself or other people, or just for the hell of it, taking a break from regular alcohol consumption is probably a good thing. We all know booze isn't the healthy option - but everything in moderation, and it's okay (specific health issues and recommendations obviously excepted!) . If dry January - fashion fad, 'media food', smug gittishness, whatever - means we give our livers a bit of a post-festive-season detox, that can't be bad, can it? Personally I love a decent ale and I'm partial to a gin and tonic, but I don't think the local pub is going to go out of business if I switch to lime and soda for a couple of weekends!
Yes I’m all for it - in fact I celebrated not drinking all day today by having a couple of glasses of a lovely Touraine Sauvignon.
aaaaah but more by luck than judgement, I've not actually had an alcoholic drink since new years eve and so have inadvertently been doing dry January! - largely because I saw friends during the day on the weekend (and thus drank tea!), and worked Saturday night. I'm purely a social drinker in company
Oh I fawt you said you had a gin n tonic the uva day , but they say it can effect memory , must be mine .
Another Dry January round the corner ... the range of no alcohol beers and drinks keeps on improving.
Your just going to undo the hard work Boris is doing in keeping the Hospitality industry open … dry January will hurt them ..
Just drink something else like orange juice, tea or even dare I say... water! Non-alcoholic versions of alcoholic drinks - baffling consumer item. Like vegetarian bacon. lol Yes, another year here with no alcohol, I don't miss it at all, ever.
