I've got a vintage trailer which I want to make a lid for and put some rail round simular to that on often found on Westfalia Essen trailers or bay roof racks. Anyone know where you can get the bits to make this stuff up? I can only find stainless railing systems for yachts, which come with yacht level prices, and I think the roof rack ones are usually aluminium. Cheers Dan (Pinched photo from elsewhere on here)
Might have to make something up from a similar rack - there's one on ebay at the moment might be suitable - item No: 293112359584 And: 352686610064
Yeah I may have to go down the road of butchering and modifying something, or just making it up from tube, but I'd rather use some proper bits if I can find them.

Let me know if you’re just a few bits short as I’ve got just a few bits from when I had a three rail rack and shortened it to a two rail, might also have some other bits and bobs too, but try and get the bulk of it first. just search "vintage roof rack" or similar on ebay. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Classic-Retro-Portarack-Roofrack-Vintage-Camper-Van/303172616798
Most of them don't fit my really specific picture of what I need it to look like though. The ebay job above did, but miles away. I've ordered some aluminium tube now and I'm gonna have a stab at making what I need up from scratch from a couple of different sizes of tube, and a complex arrangement of threaded rod, captive nuts, and washers. It might be a disaster, but it works in my head!
last resort, Franks Bus parts in that Essex, he used to sell lots of Westfalia trailers https://www.vwbusparts.com/
