Looks like Chelsea and Villa going down, see you in the championship,I bet my season ticket doesn't go down in price though

  2. No chance Chelsea are going down, will be Villa and 2 from Sunderland/Norwich/Watford or Bournemouth.

  3. Oh yes but a draw would be good.!!

I'm not confident, we are crap, I go now expecting to lose, it won't stop me going though, it might get rid of some of the jump on the bandwagon, plastic Chelsea fans if we go down

  5. But you do have the players, looks like the managers lost the dressing room ,can happen with these overpaid pre madonas, problem is with Villa is we don't have the players, we finished 17th last season and lost our top scorer club captain, Cleverly and Vlaar, what can you expect ?

I think the average bloke in the street is falling out or has already fallen out with Football, Chelsea and Man city have just bought success and the others also to a lesser extent, I used to love football and went to Leeds week in week out back in the day, but I felt I'd got screwed when they went bust but had to carry on paying players that were over paid and well past their sell by date for years after they had left when Leeds went down, The bubble is gonna burst at some point but it's always the man in the street who will pay if he's stupid enough to carry on going, The players and managers will still be quids in, I saw an interview the other week with Steve McClaren, sat there in his multi million pound mansion, The blokes failure and always has been, a lot of other managers on the merry go round are also failures but are still millionaires, It's a joke

  7. Money has always bought success, it used to come from the fans, then TV, then merchandising an finally the billionaire owners with nothing better to spend their money on. I'm not sure that the current TV spending is sustainable, then having a pet billionaire might be a necessity.

I agree the money has helped us win things, but this has always been the case if you look back the clubs with the most money have been the most successful Blackburn, Man Utd, Liverpool, Man city twice, Leeds, Chelsea etc etc
There have been a few exceptions Derby, Forest

I have to agree with woody on this. When I first started going to OT in the late 60's the players were approachable and just paid above the working man, I saw Bobby Charlton, Dennis Law. Nobby Stiles. Willie Morgan. Bryan Kidd and loads more outside the players entrance before and after the game. Matt Busby came and spoke to us kids one day before the game and let us look in his car.Even when Tommy Docherty was boss the players would chat to us and come to club nights. The whole place was accessible inside the ground. You felt like one of the family. It was part of what made Man Utd fans so loyal and kept us going through thick and thin. I never saw George Best outside the ground and always wished I had the courage to speak to the players, but it was great to just be there with your hero's standing there in their best suits smoking fags and being human. They were just as famous as today's players, just not so aloof and pampered!

Ok  John Terry is also a dick, arguing with pundits because he reckons they are not worthy to criticize him, anyone can see he's well past it and does'nt give his all, just another over paid over rated plodder, The only difference was he got lucky and picked when he was young, like a lot of players, we all know of lads who were great players as kids but never got the chance or the break

Me and my mates used to cycle over to Mitcham to watch Chelsea train, Osgood Cooke, Bonetti, Hudson they would come over and have a chat, even later Zola, Dennis Wise Vialli, would interact with the supporters, whenever Wise was injured he would sit with the Chelsea supporters at away grounds, we get nothing like that from this crop of players apart from John Terry he is a true blue one of the lads

  15. do they still put their supporters in a shed with all this money they have ?

I think Fergie could have been successful on a shoestring look at his success at Aberdeen and think about the class of 92. How many of them did he buy. Giggs. Beckham. Scholes . Butt. The Nevilles. How many others did he bring through?

I look at Clough and Paisley and Revie. They were the same, they had local lads playing English football and conquering Europe. Walker started the money spending trend at Blackburn and others followed suit to keep up. That Blackburn trophy was the most blatantly bought title ever. It began the rot along with sky tv and the premiership. IMO

TBH if there,s a choice between watching barca v madrid or watching a league 2 or conference game i watch the latter 2 at least with them games theres a possibility of chance in the game and any brief displays of skill are enjoyed

I agree with all of the above, its been great winning a few trophies lately, but if I'm honest I preferred it when Chelsea were carp in the old second division, when we used to take 5000 to away games and our star players were Tommy Langley Steve Finniston, Trevor Aylot, Ray Wilkins John Sparrow etc
