OK, i wanna learnt to do my own welding so what do i need? What's a good reasonable priced welder? Etc. 8)
the Clarke 150TE (Turbo) MIG Welder is an excellent welder, ive used cebora lincoln rand etc which are all excellent but pricey but the Clarke 150TE (Turbo) MIG Welder is very for the money http://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/product/details/150te-turbo-mig-welder?da=1&TC=SRC-diy-mig-welders
I use a Cebora 165amp mig I bought off ebay for £130 - had it about 5 years now, and it's about 15-20 years old and still going strong For reasonably priced new ones, as others have said, the Clarke and SiP ones seem good enough, but I wouldn't bother with anything less than 130amp if you plan on doing anything thicker than odd bits of bodywork. opt for the 150 instead of the 130 if you can afford it Theres not much in most vehicle work that the 150 wont do
I'm currently using a sealey 150 turbo set up as gasless. I'm currently borrowing off a mate but will buy one. I think they are around the £300 mark but deals do come up. he got it on ebay for £199 from A1 plant supllies. I had a SIP 105 but it struggles on heavy duty stuff. As paradox says a 150amp will cover everything within reason HTH
I've got an old second hand Cebora I was given as payment for some work on the side ....really good machine. If you'd meantioned learning to weld a year ago you could have came and worked on my bus for practice........the best way to learn welding is to lay under a bus in the mud and I had loads of it!!!! > unfortunatly/fortunatly I've only got 3 panels left to weld on!!!! If you fancy learning your more than welcome to come round some when and have a play with mine ....ooh err Mrs
Cheers Dale mate, i may well take you up on that offer, just remember who to call when the engine goes back in. ;-)
We've always had a 130TE or 150TE. Parts are widely available and cheap. I would invest in a regulator to use the large gas bottles rather than keep buying the small ones.
