What part is this?!

    The chassis part that the spring connects to? I’ve made my own version of this out of some scrap stainless I had laying around but I need to stick a return spring on it so had a look at buttys bits for some inspiration on where to put the spring, but I don’t have this part on my bus?! Should I have...?

    I`ve still got the stock linkage but put a spring on to help lift the pedal quicker , a must when you`re going as fast as wot i do innit ?? :rolleyes:

  7. Definitely need the return spring on it, the pedal just sticks to the floor if not ☹️

    The return spring on mine is on the pedal inside the bus, there’s nothing under the floor.

  10. That’s what I was hoping would happen, but I don’t think the spring is just strong enough on mine.

    Other option is to get a more meaty spring for under the pedal, that may work better actually.
     
  11. ^this - and it's a pretty weedy one. The throttle return is largely done by the spring(s) on the carb(s).
     
  12. As said before , the stock set up is just a spring under the pedal which helps the carb spring(s) .
    Adding a long soft spring underneath really helps returning the pedal , making for a slightly firmer pedal and an easier drive .

    A worthwhile mod :thumbsup:

    If you have an interest in having wide open throttle the spring should be somehow attached to the end of the cable at the carburettor end, so when the pedal is at the top, the throttle just closes.
    Not so useful adding springs under the floor where they fail to take up any slop in the cable and carburettor linkages. Especially with a progressive where the cable travel on a stock linkage (17mm AFAIR ) is not enough in the first place as the progressive needs about 21mn.
    The first picture with a coil spring to the bodywork shows a setup that has a lot of slop.

    The stock scissors spring under the pedal should be enough to lift it up.
