I think that this valve (needle valve?) is not shutting off properly when the float chamber fills up. With the engine running (rough) fuel can be seen dripping out of this pipe into the throat of the carb. Does any one know exactly what these carbs are, I've got twin carbs on my bus, and where can I get spares from? Ta very much.
unsrew the valve there is probably a bit of dirt stuck in it preventing it from closing and overflowing through the pipe pictured, the carb is a 32-43 pdsit as it has on the side, heritage probably do spares
Its a Solex 32 - 34 PDSIT judging by whats stamped on the side of it. Give EuroCarb a call, I've always found them really useful: http://www.dellorto.co.uk/ This might help too: http://www.ratwell.com/technical/DualCarbs.html And this: http://www.thesamba.com/vw/archives/manuals/solex_34_pdsit_2_3.php
When I needed some rebuild kits for a pair of these I couldn't find them anywhere. I suspect a lot of the usual suspects have them but named something odd - I ended up getting the kits from T2D. Cue the multiple posts of links to obviously named products from all the online shops.
Sometimes it`s the float ,it might have a little hole inside it ,I think that pipe is the overflow but not 100 percent sure..
just for horts http://www.coolairvw.co.uk/Item/NA/AC1989939/T3_69-74_-P-T4_Twin_Solex_-OB-1700-2000cc-CB-_Carburettor_Rebuild_Kit.html
The rebuild kits are stocked by heritage and are £25 per carb. They have the main gaskets and a new valve plus a few o rings If you get a new float you wil need to set the height, the gauge for this is also in the kit
