What a cracking summer. What did you do through it?

Bimey, it was a scorcher wasn't it?

I got made redundant just as the heatwave had got started, spent the last week of May touring Ireland in an hire car and the first few days of June doing the the three peaks while touring Wales, England and Scotland in the T4.

I can't say I let a day go without doing something interesting, from buying a bay, to building an extension on my house. I think I have sweated buckets this summer working and walking over hills, mountains and coast routes. We had a holiday in Wales and even got to camperjam ( swelterjam 18 ).

The T4 although not the sole water cooled camper I have and camped in this year, has become my default sleeping place and some of the parking spots have been par excellence for sheer beauty. I think the night in a layby in the Llanberis pass during a rain and wind storm while parked precariously downhill was the worst, but even that was exhilarating.

Cracking summer for me. What did you do?

Great pictures Malc, I think you more than most have had a great summer, me I haven’t been able to do much as I’ve been nursing my wife who as you know hasn’t been too good, I’ve been able to do the odd overnighter carp fishing when my wife has felt a bit better, maybe I’ll get away next year

Not rubbing it in Bazza, I know you haven’t had the best summer with your wife’s health. Hopefully next summer will see you both up and about and feeling better mate.

I have just made the most of a awful time in life when everything seemed to go pear shaped for a while. Job troubles, too many nights, bullying bosses etc, then I had the chance of redundancy and took it and decided to make the most of a Marmite situation. I’ve needed it bud. :)

That was Howth Owen. Just outside Dublin. Do you know it? Not as nice as swimming in Galway bay at Shorthill the day before, but beautiful all the same!

  9. I went on a three month cycling and camping trip in France. I know it was dry and sunny in the UK but May in France was wet wet wet. Have only just got rid of a severe dose of foot rot.

How crazy this weather is eh. When you say foot rot, do you mean like trench foot? That wouldn’t have been nice!

  11. It was like severe athletes foot. Took ages to fix when i got home .

  20. A summer of ups and downs, was buying a boat until the vendor did a dirty on the engine repairs and I pulled out. Watched the England world cup matches on TV with my son. Went to France for a couple of weeks. Finished building my shed/lean to. This week went to Amsterdam on a plane came back on a boat two million quids worth took us three days, bloody rough in the North Sea. Back home and it feels rather cold, summer is definitely over now.
