Westy pop top hinges dilemma

  1. Hi guys,
Resto our 77 westy going ok but wanted advice on putting the pop top back on. In what order would you attach the hinges, front push bar, etc? Was thinking of screwing the rear hinges into the pop-top body first with roof off, then making sure all newly painted areas around holes for screws in main metal of camper were masked of carefully to avoid scratching when lifting into place?....
On another note, I now have orange hands after dyeing the velour inner roof / ceiling of the pop top...rubber gloves were too small!...Will get round to posting some photos when it comes back from spray shop...took me 3 months to rub down and disassemble so in no real rush to see it.
    Cheers.
    Peter

  2. I had the whole top ready to go on then just bolted in place, rear first, front propped up with bit of wood. dont forget a bit of gunge on the bolt threads or water will run down them

  4. You want 4 people really, I did it with 3 but it was a an effort trying to hold it and get the hinges into position and do them up.
