Westy Continental Malaga Interior

Discussion in 'Restorations' started by Dave Franklin, Mar 30, 2020.

  1. I'm lucky enough to have just had delivered a RHD interior, which looks to me to be a Malaga. Does anyone have any pics of the sink/wardrobe unit interior as I'm now trying to see what the plumbing should look like to tidy it up. Any pics in general of anyone who has this interior would be greatly appreciated.

  2. Yep, I’ve got one waiting to be fitted. Here’s a pic after I managed to source the correct water tank and the fittings underneath including the screw in water pump and drain tap. Let me know what else you need

  3. Cockers that's amazing, cheers. My tap has been altered so I've ordered a new switch, hopefully I can get that running too. Just trying to figure out what would be best to re-seal the sink to the working surface. The old sponge material was not good.

Can you tell me where you source the water pipe in the second pic if you replace it please. I'm guessing it's fairly standard.

  4. I was missing the pump and drain tap so I’ll need to order new ones, just measure the diameter of the barb and there’s plenty of water pipe on eBay of various internal diameters. I had the same trouble with my tap, some genius had fitted a doorbell to the worktop instead! You can get the white westfalia switches, I’m guessing that’s what you ordered? The foam seal under the sink was bad on mine too, I’ve not sealed it yet but I’ll probably put some clear silicon on the foam seal, screw down the sink and then wipe off the excess. Have you got the table and fabled crumpet toaster?

For small parts, such as door handles and buttons, trim etc, www.NLAVW.com do some very good products, delivery is (hopefully remains so under the current situation) quick.

Ive had no complaints with them!

  6. The bottom of my tank doesn't have the conical bits in your pics, which connect the pump and out pipe. But yes I have the fabled crumpet toaster, not with the grill pan though :)

  7. I've just ordered a couple of handles from NLA VW, hopefully they'll get here in a few weeks, no rush as the interior isn't going in until the bus is stripped for paint etc. Ordered some parts off Frank VW Parts too, namely new switch and pump.

Frank does some good stuff too, Ive bought various parts off him over the years.

  9. Mine doesn’t have those protrusions either, that’s a stock photo. Mine’s a flush fit with 1/2” bsp fittings

  10. That makes sense then, I've also seen pics of proper plumbing pipes coming off the sink drain, as opposed to the plastic hose we have

  11. I’m jealous of the crumpet toaster, mine came without it and they don’t come up for sale very often :(

    N Reg? What colour?

  13. Not sure what year mine came out of, it’s not original to my bus I’m afraid

  14. Mines an N, built Oct 73,registered in UK Feb 74, out of the factory in pastel white but now jaffa bottom, pastel white top. I think the interior I've just bought was from a 76 though

  15. Not sure if I'll ever use it mate, the Mrs said crumpet is for single people. Not sure what she meant by that

There are a couple on N plate Malaga’s on here.

    Pastel white for the win!’

  17. I think she'd kill me if I went back to "just" pastel white, she likes orange vans.
