Muslims, generally in the UK are quick to distance themselves from individuals who commit terrorist attacks. I know that a lot of work is done within communities to try to avoid radicalisation and it is a minority who are radicalised. All that said it seems to be that perpetrators of these events are past offenders and criminals and therefore possibly perceived as sinners within their own religion. Is the path to redemption therefore to become a martyr for the cause and that being part of a Jihad ie a holy war then does that absolve them of their previous crimes and allow them into heaven! I do know that in some middle eastern cultures it isn't the individual who sins, that sin is brought about by the influence of evil and that perpetrators see themselves as innocent and carry no blame. I don't know enough to strongly argue the point but the issue to me is that simply being a Muslim isn't an issue. Perhaps we should allow the intervention of Sharia Law for Muslims who commit crime. Perhaps then they wouldn't need to look for redemption as they have already received it. Or perhaps ive no idea what im on about!
It's OK to kill rape enslave in sharia law, you just can't do it to another Muslim. People of the book (Christians Jews), get the options to pay Jizya tax, convert or die.....pagans don't get the jizya option, e.g. The Yazidi. Lying to defend your religion is absolutely fine in Islam, it is called Taqiya. When an atrocity occurs, they mostly go quiet, with a few imams, or teenage girls wheeled out to say the perpetrators weren't Muslim, religion of peace, misunderstood , racism to blame etc....this is taqiya. If a born Muslim rejects Islam, they are apostate the Koran demands their death....liberal muslims are always in fear of Takfirs who take it upon themselves to kill them. Police won't get involved. The shiites of Iran, Syria and Iraq are considered takfir by the majority of muslims, this is one of the factors in the ongoing civil war in these regions with ISIS and other groups who are takfiris. Liberals in the UK really want to accept Islam, in the same way we accept sikhs, Hindus, Buddhist, secular etc However it is important to learn about what your being accepting of to avoid disappointment and accusation of naïveté . I am happy to discuss any of this with any Muslim. Many of the features of Islam are sensible such as rejecting of usury. But I'm not sure how the fundamental basics jive with traditional Christian morality which set UK law?....the extirpation of all hatred, even towards your enemies. no killing allowed at all?
