I weld in a t shirts but have burnt my legs and arms very badly before ,so I all ways were overalls , a dust mask can help too .
just had a little play with welder and and mask it all seems fine i suppose we will see in a few hours if i have arc eye how good the mask is was surprised how heavy handed i had to be would of thought it would of thought it would of been a lighter touch
I have one of these http://www.weldequip.com/esab-eyetech-5-13.htm and a portamig 235, I used to buy the cheap ones but after getting arc eye (screen had a crack in it) I will never use a cheap one again, plus I do alot of tig welding now so it's great for both tig/mig and grinding
I've had a cheap SWP mask for a few years now, solar powered auto shade, and its been fine. If I was using tig I'd probably invest in something more appropriate. As long as the mask has the CE stamp, I think it will be suitable for its intended use. Wearing decent gloves/gauntlets and overalls though should also be high on your list of priorities, theres nothing like have a spaz attack when theres a hot nugget of weld cooling inside your boots.
