and a portamig 235, I used to buy the cheap ones but after getting arc eye (screen had a crack in it) I will never use a cheap one again, plus I do alot of tig welding now so it's great for both tig/mig and grinding :D

I've had a cheap SWP mask for a few years now, solar powered auto shade, and its been fine. If I was using tig I'd probably invest in something more appropriate.

As long as the mask has the CE stamp, I think it will be suitable for its intended use.

Wearing decent gloves/gauntlets and overalls though should also be high on your list of priorities, theres nothing like have a spaz attack when theres a hot nugget of weld cooling inside your boots.

Can't you just squint and look away occasionally?

  7. You can still get arc eye if you close your eyes
