Weber 34 ICT spindle “guides”

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by AndyC, Aug 18, 2019.

  1. Looking to purchase some used Weber ICTs.

Seller says it needs new spindle guides pressed in. However, when I do research on parts and methods, I can’t find anything out there.

    Anyone heard of them?

  2. The original Solex carbs tend to have worn butterfly spindle bushes. Not sure on Weber ict’s. Might be worth giving Eurocarb a call.

  3. That would make more sense. I’ve seen spindle bushes as a part. Just not “guides” that need pressing in.

  4. A model engineer friend made me some bush's for mine as replacements weren't available.
He drilled the spindle holes bigger to fit the new bush.
I bought new spindles from eurocarb as they were also worn.
If the carbs are cheap then worth buying if you know someone who could make you some

  5. They’re not super cheap. By the time I’ve sorted the guides, sorted out the jetting, bought manifolds, bought a good linkage, I’m probably not far from the price of a new one with warranty!

I did my progressive with 6x8x10mm Oilite bushings.
Drill in drill press lined up using throttle spindle as a guide. Drill in about 10mm with 8mm drill, stop before throttle bore.
Press in bushings with some JB weld if you want, file off excess of bushings sticking out.
About £20 for a progressive including a new sharp 8 mm drill bit..
