VW T2 elevating roof

  1. Hi all,
    I'm new to this site hopefully you can help me out, I'd like to install a elevating roof on my T2 a side hinged one. I have failed to find any instruction online could anyone help me out ? Also would anyone know of a second had roofs for sale before I have to fork out for a new one . Any help would be much appreciated :)

    what style of roof were after? There are a few different side hinged ones. I'd start on eBay and perhaps some of the facebook forums to see what is available.
    I assume you're fitting to a tin-top, rather than a van that's already been cut?
     
  3. Hi thanks for the replay yes I'm fitting to a tin top just the standard side opening one, not the Viking style not sure what you call it ? Sorry I'm still learning :) I'm after one just like the pic below : [​IMG]

    That looks like a dormobile roof to me. Are you planning on doing the work yourself? Most poptops require strengthening to be added around the hole that is cut for the poptop which would vary depending on the roof type you go for. I'm sure someone on here has done that type of conversion before and would be able to point you in the right direction.

    Yes I was going to give it ago thanks for the link il drop them a message an see what they can do, website looks good it's very hard to find parts . I guessed there would be some type of supports involved .
