On close inspection I have a 36 amp Generatonr on my 1500 SP, the regulator I have has no number on it and I cant tell if its 30 or 36, its been running fine, could it cause me a problem going foreward or will it just regulate down the higher power if it is the lower amp regulator??

  2. It should be fine. The regulator regulates the charging voltage applied to the battery, approximately. Current flowing will depend on the state of charge of the battery. Even if it’s the wrong one, I’d think it’ll keep on going. It’s unlikely it’ll ever be passing 36A.
