Vents...

Discussion in 'Restorations' started by Louise, Jun 22, 2019.

  1. My van has these vents which strangely vent inside the van. I’ve noticed that a few panels have them, probably an optional extra from the factory?
Thing is, I think rain comes in! I think it’s caused rust to form inside at the base of the vent channel.
So, what to do about it? I’m going to fix the rust... but I fear that it will just come back because of the vents!

Not much help but I think these extra air vents are an Australian feature.

Does your bus originally hail from Australia ?

I think your options are cut them out and plate or somehow block them up.

I quite like them but see where you’re coming from.

  3. There's always the blue Peter solution, clear sticky back plastic!
OK I know that's not a viable long term solution
A but it could fit round the arial lead:)

  5. Weird but are you sure the water isn’t just running down that cable that’s been threaded in and down thru vent ??

  6. Also your roof rack foot in the gutter above may not be helping ?

  7. Is it the same rustwise on the side without the aerial cable?

  8. The aerial is coming down... a "feature" that the guy I brought it off was really proud of... "it's even got an aerial so you can watch TV in it"... you should have seen my face.

  9. A little bit but nowhere near as bad. I need to find some ladders to have a proper look from the outside inwards.

  10. You can keep the aerial just look for different route maybe thru engine air intake ? Nice bus by the way .

  11. The vents where fitted as standard if the van had a full bulkhead behind the front seats.
