V-dub island, isle of white

Discussion in 'Shows Events You've Missed unless you went' started by G17hyn, Apr 3, 2016.

  1. I was given I leaflet today at volksworld for v-dub island isle of white, and was wondering has any of you ever been?

I have never been to the isle of white and thought what better way than doing a show plus it's £150 for two adults and up to 4 children with a return ferry to Southampton which I didn't think was to bad!

    Thanks

  2. Isle of Wight is great. Heard mixed reports about the show though

  3. I went last year as I happened to be on the Isle of Wight anyway. I was very disappointed, there were pretty much no VW's there other than in the car park!

we went 3 years ago and was not impressed with the show it was badly organized and poor activates/stands so we went off site after 2 days and had a lovey week on the island.

  6. I went in 2014, travelled 300 miles to get there. Will never go back, very disappointed with the show although we loved the IOW . I was also disappointed to read about in the VW magazines how good it is was - it clearly wasn't! Felt let down really.

The ferry companies have offers combining sites and ferry at good prices early and late in the season, which are worth considering.

most of the campsites do a deal with the ferrys we went again last year for 10 days, we only needed to book one night on a campsite to get the cheep ferry £60

  9. I've been every year. As for a VW show its crap, but its a cheap weeks camping. Last year weather was very bad and the roads in and out were impassable at times. Think the mud is still underneath the bus. Organisation is crap and no trade stands worth looking at. This is because it is so expensive to get across the water for traders. In summary its a cheap WK away but mainly set up for locals coming in and out as they want, who have no interest in the VW scene. But some of bands are pretty good.As for the write ups in mags I had to laugh as it was clearly written by the organiser or they had two show on the island and I went to the wrong one:D. So come on vdub up the game, you've got the ideal setting but need to get issues sorted or it'll never turn into a proper VW show.
