type 4 knob

After spending the last 2 years completely( and i mean everything ) rebuilding my spare type4 WO engine to a spanking turnkey engine i am left with the question should i have a knob in the middle of the engine fan , neither of my engines do but Haynes shows one ??? i know i`m being a bit anal ( anal and knob shouldn`t be in the same sentence ) also after the alternator tin adjusting plastic piece and a ******y bellhousing to try it

 

what sort of knob...?

I`ll have to scan the |Haynes maual at work on monday but the picture in it shows a bullet shaped knob that fits in the hole in the centre of the fan , page 22-23 altho the centre of the fan looks slightly different to mine

 

There are different types of fan. I may have a nobby one kicking about - I'll have a look for you.
