Type 4 Fuel pump rod

I think I read somewhere that if you remove the mechanical fuel pump and use an electric one you still have to use the push rod but cut it shorter to keep up the oil pressure?
Anyone done this?

 

i took mine out seems fine

 

I've blanked mine off on my type 1 and my type 4 engines. No issues yet.

 

Mine was removed and a blanking plate fitted..no issues.

Use a BMC A series (Mini) blanking plate much cheaper than the VW scene tax jobbie.
