Depends how big your hands are! It's a bit of a fiddle but shouldn't take more than about 10 minutes of swearing. Use oil to lubricate it. Put it on the top bit first then do the bottom part.

Oh, and make sure you use a Viton boot or you'll be doing it again before long. I happen to sat on a supply of them if you need one.

  3. I took my time n reckon it took 20-30 minutes. Fiddly job.

Mind n take the dipstick out, only an idiot would try removing the old one with it in.

This photo is from The Samba and shows the lengths folk go to when they don't have an excellent Viton dipstick boot. Looks like he deflanged (if there is such a word) the two connecting metal pipes too to take his straight rubber pipe.

Personally I didn't have to remove any tinware or the oil filler tube, but it was a bit fiddly.

I'm sorry but there's been a huge demand for the small bag of Viton ones I was sat on and they've all been bagsied. If one doesn't get claimed I'll let you know.

I fitted one of Pauls. Wasn't as bad a job as I was expecting. I also changed the alternator boot at the same time, also from Paul. Nice quality and fit.

  17. Well , I changed it .... and I still have a leak . Possibly from the oil filler tube ?
