My 2.0 Fi has this "tube" by the offside heat exchanger. Its a US spec motor and I understand its a cold air feed to ...something I assume there should be a pipe to join it to here.. ...any one got the right answer - my guess is Joker will!! Cheers B
its the heater dump tube, when you have the heaters set tooff the flap inside the valve directs the air through this tube and away from the engine. its a 79 only part and yes there should be one on both sides, I am missing both of mine
Cheers pkrboo, I only have the offside - will look for near at autojumbles ! Is the connecting pipe steel or an ali corrugated tube?
not entirely sure tbh, i thought the pipe just went straight on, but it could have a bit of fexi pipe to join them
What pkr says, I don't think it's a necessary addition so you can do without them. I might have some in the shed but quite crusty
Thanks both - if you have a nearside one Joker I'd be interested! As they are not essential its not whats causing my fast running when warm - so back to the drawing board with that! Cheers B
Well thats' not correct, the pipe is a exhaust from auxiliary BA6 petrol heater that would be positioned under the floor of the van. Check under, it might be still there.
I will be intrigued to know myself. I thought it was the exhaust for the espacher. I was looking at a bus a friend has in at his place that has that pipe but his isn't a 79. And is that 79 stateside only or for Europe too?? I've not seen one before.
I was thinking this: http://www.vintagebus.com/techinfo/eber/eb-004.jpg but you might be right pkrboo. hat off.
Any chance of a couple more pics. I think a Ba6 exhaust exits in front if the rear tire. As it Is in the centre of the bus. The Bn4 exhaust exits out the back but it has more of a bend on it
Couple more pics then - ...from the side looking from front to back at the end of the pipe by the side of the HE Looking like heat dump to me - no sign of an espacher or and sign of where one could have been attached in the past.. B
yep defo what i said, look at the pic i posted up and you will see that it connects via a flexi pipe.
