Trumpets

Yes I CNC’d mine , I still have a drawing somewhere at work . I made them match the Vents I made and the filterbases that I also made . The superformance book gives heights and distances from filters etc

I don’t know enough to know what the ideal inlet length should be but I know that a long inlet produces more power at lower revs while a short inlet produces more power at higher revs. And I have (relatively) long inlet manifolds and velocity stacks because I want the bus engine to make its power low down; I’m not interested in maximum bhp.

 

As closure for trumpet fans, words from the fellow from Eurocarb on trumpet height and clearance:

"K&N recommend a minimum of 25mm between the top of the trumpet and the inside of the filter, other "experts" recommend that what ever the diameter of the trumpet is, that should also be the clearance. So if the gap is 25 minimum you are ok, but more may be better. 30mm sounds like a good gap, with the 25mm rule we have never had any complaints."

 

Also...if you’ve got Dells (possibly also Webers), worth investing in a set of extended idle jet holders. Even without trumpets, can be a right faff trying to unscrew the idles with the stock, stumpy holders, as they live down a hole.

Cool. Just wondered if there is any noticeable improvement with them. Tempted to fit them to my Dells..

 

Worth having, I reckon. All subjective, but I reckon deff a bit smoother picking up. I’ll slap the bigger ones on tomorrow.
