Stopped here last weekend (July 2013) the website really doesn't lie, it's a lovely clean site with plenty of pitches, they have an offer on where 2 people pay half price so was £12 a night with hook up when we booked (we did however end up taking one of the grandkids so when we got there had to pay the full price at £24 which was a bit crap as he's only 5) Dogs are welcome and there's a dog walking field, the entrance is via a keyfob (£10 deposit - refundable) showers are top notch as is the condition of all facilities on site (it's clearly had a lot of modernisation) The only "faults" are the pitches are hard standing (rocks in plastic frame type) which for wet Wales makes a good pitch in the usual rain but on a hot summers weekend made pegging out a nightmare, also the site is very much aimed at the older retired types especially in the tourer/motorhome area, the camping field which is sepearate is a bit more youthful but the site is deffo family only, there's a small shop which is unlicenced but the pub and chipshop is a 5 minute walk away, i didn't find much fault with the site but out of choice (i've stopped at a lot of sites near here) i'd probably pick one of the others before this purely because it was a bit "prim".
    Piccys.

  3. Useful info. We tend to go to Shell Island if we are near there. No hookups and more limited facilities but lovely wide and open.

  4. Great review Ricky and the views are stunning. We hope to do more of Wales. Have you any more recommendations?

The nearest one to Barmouth town is http://www.hendremynach.co.uk/ this one is ace I love it.
then through Llanaber where the review above is there's a couple on the A496 road, if you want a bit of a campsite with all bells and whistles feel there's http://www.sunnysands.co.uk/ the website says book weekly but we found that to be a lie you can just turn up.
then if you carry on to Talybont I've done a review for one there which is nice too http://thelatebay.com/index.php?threads/the-green-dragon-welshpool-tyddyn-goronwy-tal-y-bont.9611/ , carry on along that road and you'll get to Shell island on the left and if you keep going Porthmadog and surrounding areas, we tend to stick to that area of coast if we go to Wales as we both enjoy Barmouth/Porthmadog etc although we have done Conwy and north Wales we tend to stick to what we like.
