  1. I'm gonna take the camper out for the first time since beginning of November. Been a bit busy of late!

    What could possibly go wrong?

  3. check the oil before you start the engine, run the engine for a few minutes. switch off and check for fuel leaks. check brake fluid level. check brake hoses etc for any sign of leaks. make sure your direction indicators are working.

drive off and use your brakes frequently to wear off the rust from the disks and drums. sometimes callipers can get stuck or seize up through lack of use. Exercise the brakes.

    Enjoy your run out.

  5. I'm told charcoal biscuits may help...

  6. Good tips. I'm 100% certain I don't have e sticky callipers though

  8. just be careful and keep using the brakes and when nobody behind you, anchor up a bit firm a few times. you know what our vans are like they don't do well sitting idle.

I mentioned the callipers issue as my son had this with his T25, it sat on the driveway for quite a while and the disks rusted badly and the callipers stuck. we ended up replacing them.

  9. I only know I have no seizures there as my bus is running drums all round ;)

  10. Good advise, will be checking as mentioned. I hope the risk of rust is reduced somewhat as I keep my bus in an insulated and heated garage.

  11. When I've left it standing for any short period of say over a week I have issues starting it up.I've got a Weber progressive with electric fuel pump on a type 4 engine. I usually end up putting a squidge of fuel down the carb and off it goes. What would be the reason for this do you think?

I didn't have this issue with a mechanical fuel pump, but I'm not sure why that would make a difference??

  12. Nah, that's something we arranged via Greenwich to make you colonial types feel important.

You are actually 364 days behind Blighty.

We don't need to feel important with our climate. :p

  16. Thai food, beer and soaring temperatures doesn't help my camper starting issues.

My setup will fire the engine briefly then die. If I turn the key off and back on again it may begin to flood instead of start and end up needing a lot of churning with foot hard on the floor to clear thr flooding.

If I keep the starter turning as it dies it will start after about 5 seconds.... Probably no fuel in the carburettor float chamber but in the accelerator pump theres still a squirt left, and then the fuel arrives from the pump.

  18. 100 % successful trip, up to Blenheim Palace for a jaunt round the grounds. Camper drove like a dream.

  19. Doesn't your camper have a name, you can't just keep saying "the camper " you will hurt it's, his or her feelings and that is when your problems start.

  20. No name I'm afraid. Maybe if I just said she, it's definitely a she. She's like a member of the family so perhaps needs a name.
