I started donating nearly 40 years ago when they used to come to our work place. I have recently made my 100th donation and they are now no longer coming to the local church hall and expect us now to travel to larger venues as it is more cost effective. Personally not a issue for me, but I think a lot of donors will be put off by these changes. Time will tell, I guess.
I’ve been turned down 4x - once as been to Africa and had to have rabies jabs out there. Once as had new piercings Once (long time ago) as too light Once - in Spain - as come from a mad cow disease country. I should really try again.
Today I got my text alert from the Blood Donor Service to let me know that the blood I donated on the 14th June has been issued to the University Hospital, London. Every Little Helps.
I was rejected the last time I tried to donate as I had lived in Africa. My sister used to donate regularly in Dubai, as she was hard up, and they would pay you. The last time she went along, had the blood test, and was pronounced DRUNK! Her comment was....If you think I'm drunk, you should have seen me last night! Tony
