TLB Spring Camp Update

Discussion in 'Shows Events You've Missed unless you went' started by eveningstar, Mar 17, 2012.

  1. Eek, only two weeks to Spring Camp at Gordale Scar!

Some of us will hopefully be enjoying the lovely Spring air, dressed to the nines and with a glass of port and some cheese on a stick (will there be pineapple???)... I don't have an outfit yet but am trying not to panic.

I said I'd let Malcolm know rough numbers this week and in return he'll confirm the cost which I'll feed back to you straight away. Just be aware that he'll want paying in cash and as the nearest cash machine is a 20min drive away in Settle (I think), best to bring it with you.

Currently we're looking at about 30 vans/tents which equates to about 60 adults, 25 kids and 20 dogs! Can't wait to see how we're going to decide who gets the two electric hookups!!!

I'm going to the Visitor Centre this week to see if we can reserve the GPS units for the geocaching. I may not get a chance to do a proper recce as I slipped on some mud three weeks ago and sprained my ankle so am trying to rest it as much as possible but will try. Chorizo farm tour arranged for 11am Saturday.

Whether we're coming in Dora is a matter of some debate so Anita the burger van may be making another appearance - watch this space! For those of you who do have work to do on their vans as well, best of luck!

Can't wait to see you all!

Will check with Rach & Al if they're still coming. None of us will need lecktrickery.

Will also be the first outing for our new awning....and provided it does the business we'll have the old one for sale ^-^

  13. We're still on and the kids are off school on the Friday so if you need us to come early and help set things up - just let us know what you want us to do.

We've got to drop the girls back home for the Saturday as they are going on some Guide thing to the NEC, but Andrew and I will be there for the full weekend.

    Looking forward to it.

  15. Sorry guys but Crazycaver has a note from his mum to excuse him from caving over the forthcoming weekend!

Basically he had an op at the end of last year on his hand and it's still not really strong enough for rope work. Better to be safe than sorry!

Not sure how many people were interested in going caving but he said that he said if anyone is up here later in the year he can take you then.

As mentioned if people want we can go visit a free show cave nearby which you just walk into and the kids will love... unless they're scared of the dark!

  19. We are still coming. All of us are really excited. Dress and suit sorted. Kids counting down Sleeps!

We don't need hookup, although maybe ten minutes borrow for Amanda's straighteners would be great.

We have 2 bottles of bombay sapphire gin for all you gin swiggers.

Planning on knocking up fresh pizzas on friday night, if we have enough ovens? bbqs with lids, dutch ovens? also I will bring some that I have pre- cooked on thursday night to heat up on normal bbqs.

kids egg hunt? we have found out the plastic eggs from last year, they aren't very big, we will fill them with sweets and bring them along.

    Only 10 more sleeps, :) :) :) :)
