tiny and stephen get there first project and its a 20 millionth edition

  2. 4 inches of the gutter was bubbling , so i ground along the edge and split it cuttinf either end of the effected area , and welded in a new stripp , buffing down to match the rest then skimmed up the last areas to be done , owen nw

  4. to day spent some time flattening the roof aqnd bonnet , the previous owners had the car painted 3 4 times going by the layers , and its given all sorts of bother , owen nw

  5. i have now decided not to do it silver as it think silver looks crapp , i tryed some on the inner wheel arches and insides of the wings and a few leading edges , looka great glad i picked the colour NOT , edele did , owen nw

    all will be revealed
     
  6. to day i spent some time taken apart wiring and wrapping it up out of the way , had to do a couple of small repairs around the edge where the tank would sit , the sanded down the inner wings , then gave them a coat of eitch primer , i prepped up the inside of the car to and painted it all , i also done the front of the car , i also dusted the 2 front quarters and front panel , and around the door pillars , . i think edeles colour is sweet , owen nw

  7. taken out the ole headlining need a new one if anyone has one new second hand , and found an inspection chart from the factory classssssssssssssssssss, and got the ol v5 today owen nw
    and got its original engine today as well

    every time I nearly go to reading your thread it got bumped back to the top because your working too quick ;D .............but I've finally caught up with all the resto threads! (I think)

    cant beleve how fast you can restore a vehicle!!

  11. Today myself and colm mad a start on the car. Colm stripped the engine bay with a wire brush on the drill before we fitted the rear panel. while he done that i made up a new ds engine bay seal strip holder then welded it on. then replaced the rear panel with a new one. drilled out the spot welds that hold the engine lid seal strip ie rust trap. at this point adrian landed he and colm took the bonet off and prepped the top engine lid seal strip. grounf off spot welds smoothed out itched primed it and the engine bay. he then fine filled the same area. adrian spent some time flattening panels, colm made the coffee. i prepped the new engine lid repaired some panel damage and filled the rear panel where the strip came off. prepped this itched it too then 2kd all the areas with high build primer.

  13. to day we 2k d the scuttle panel , colm scotch brighted the engine bay , and i rubbed down the repairs on the engine lid , primed then prepped for base coating ie colour build up coats , i then done the same on the 2 rear quarters and around the door opening again ,and flattened the rear panel as well , owen nw colm

    the depth of shine on the paintwork is great, love the colour too, it suits a beetle to a t - respect to you for the quality of work you show us!
     
  15. cheers that only a build up coats to see how it all looks , then it will all be flattened out to repaint , long way of doing it , but then i no its done lol owen nw

    how ever get it from tiny and stephen will have a decent ole bug

    Reading your restos is like a Challenge Anneka programme, apart from she was much easier on the eye!
