I replaced the instrument lights, and was proper hacked off when the new ones didn't work either....checked fuses....circuit board for breaks....earth point....wiring for breaks...new bulbs for continuity...cleaned the holders with sand paper.

Then @rickyroo told me to turn the rotate the light switch.

I deserved the wasted day tbh as I never imagined it would have something so relatively sophisticated.

  2. I never knew about the light dimmer for ages either......and lifting the handle on the sliding door to un-latch it..

^^^ the instrument dimmer caught me out too. By the time I’d got down to Cornwall on the train and bus to look at the camper, spent two hours looking it over and test driving, then waiting for the bank transfer to go through, it was pitch dark when I came to drive the 200 miles home.... and shock horror, there was no instrument lights on the dash!!
Had to periodically use the light of the screen on my phone to see what speed I was doing! Doh.

The user manual describes the dimmer function quite clearly. If folks don't have one, I can scan mine and put it up here somewhere.

Thanks, but it's fine now, I've mastered it.

Oil changes are always a tricky one.
Which way is the wind blowing as the oil should be viscous and warm and you don't want any drizzled spray on your brick paving, unless of course you have a garage.
All the same even with bowls, funnels, rags and an oil filter remover tool something invariably happens.
It's bit like mooring and berthing as it's never boring....

Took the engine out to replace the gear box because I thought it might be knackered...only to find that the "Teflon" coupling was shredded when I came to disconnect the linkage at nose cone.o_O

  11. Extended the aerial right up to clean it this afternoon, then pulled off the drive to take it for a run, got under the low hanging pine tree in the front garden and bent the aerial I'd just cleaned.

If you can’t see the instrument panel in the dark, rotate the headlight switch ;)
    That’s about all I’ve mastered! :D

  15. It should be spring loaded really - returning to darkness once it's revealed how pathetically slow you're going....

I wonder if anyone has ever turned it and thought "wow I'm going too fast."

Be careful because you could turn on the after burners and go into warp speed.

  17. I’ve played the oil change game twice.
First time: plug out, drained oil into washing up bowl without any mess at all, bowl out of way so couldn’t be kicked over, topped up oil without plug in! Very messy!
Second time, oil hot to drain, dropped plug into bowl, hot oil running down arm while trying to fish plug out! Very messy (and painful) again! :)

Fitted the headlight bulbs in upside-down and wondered what was wrong with the beam pattern.

Not as embarrassing as driving under a car park height bar with a bike on the roof though.
I always think about that while going under them or onto a ferry in the bus with a lot less confidence now.

The other mistake was taking @Barry Haynes to Volksworld and back in the bus.

    Never again.
