Things we ate as a kid

Zoom lolly, Everlasting strip, Marathon bar gob stoppers, sherbet pips, chip shop crackling. Chip loaf ( half a crusty bread scoop out the dough and throw it at each other, add salt and vinegar then fill with chips ) spangles

 

Fruit chews, black jacks, aniseed balls. soup made from mothers dried herbs and a stock cube, digestive biscuits with butter mixed with icing sugar on top

 

Texan Bars....I miss Texan Bars....then they invented fillings and Texan bars roamed the plains no more...

 

Smashed banana sandwiches...

Chocolate chewy nuts were always my favorite sweet ,could only afford 2 oz...

 

Fried bread

 

Cola Cubes ,pineapple chunks plain crisps with the little blue salt bag

 

beef dripping....yum...

Still eat fried bread now??

 

What do you mean I still eat most off them now.

Sugar sandwiches.

Dirt and worms.

 

Nutty bars.

Shot rabbit and the odd duck. I've not had liver and onions for over 35 years

 

School greens were disgusting

 

A slug, my mum always says she thinks I ate a slug, it was there one minute and not there the next,, quite why I was playing with a slug not sure,

 

on a more serious note, Screwball, it had a bubble gum ball in the bottom of a plastic cone of ice cream,rainbow dust, humbugs, fruit salads, and Topic bar.

 

Maybe your parents couldn't afford a cat or dog or even a hamster for you to have as a pet

 

toffo cos a man has gotta chew what a mans gotta chew

 

they quite easy to look after, used to take him everywhere, bike rides, to the park, he was rubbish at football though

 

Brown sugar sandwich
Salt 'n' pepper sandwich
Pork or beef dripping sandwich

 

Arctic Roll! Only on special occasions mind you, times were hard.
