Am i right in thinking this thermostat is kerput, anyone got a spare one @davidoft ?

It’s dead.

 

Dont throw it away.. may be possible to repair it with IPA (propanol) and solder..

 

Ok Mike, give me a clue then on how we may be able to repair

I bought an original off of eBay and I think it has been repaired. I'll get a pic next time I have it out. Works well and has been tested, so must be a feasible option.

 

Like rocking horse s... to get hold of now. A few type 1 stats come up on fleabay from time to time. Easily converted to work on a type 4. They open at 65-70c which isn’t ideal but better than no stat. Avoid the new style which stay in closed position when faulty, which nicely cooks your engine

 

@davidoft none in your stock then. Few on fleabay at the minute.

 

Noticed some for sale on fleabay are like yours .......cream crackered.
