Whenever I am travelling back at night I usually see the space station hanging there in the sky. I used to see it really brightly shining no matter what direction I was travelling in, until I realised I had left the cab light on and it was the reflection in the screen, err um.. Moving on. I keep meaning to get the telescope out out and have decking, but usually forget. So I wondered if you guys had, or have an interest in it and could give me few pointers. It's a amazing thing isn't it?
Have a search on t'internet for ISS orbit or some such. They'll tell you when the station will go whizzing by (it does move quite fast).
It's pretty impressive as it flies over, especially when you consider it's got 3 or 4 people aboard and is traveling at 17500 mph. Look on tinternet for when it's making an appearance and be ready as each sighting only lasts for about 3 minutes.
Have a look at "ISS Spotter" app. Tells you when and where, and at what angle. There were good sightings coming up to Christmas. We told our grand kids it was Santa
No, it goes like stink. A while back, it went over our house(-ish). I was emailing a mate in San Diego at the time. It went over his house...45 minutes earlier!
We had a telescope once but sold it when we realised it works best when it's clear sky's (cold) and dark (very late at night)
So, what is the very bright thing in the sky that looks like a very bright star and is always in the west. Is it a star?
