The Red Arrows

  1. I've only just realised that I can have a free air display by The Red Arrows by driving 20 miles down the road to RAF Scampton. I knew that they are based there but not that they fly on a daily basis prior to going to Cyprus for their pre-show training.

  4. It got to be the best job in the world.
Breakfast, briefing, whiz around at low level for half an hour, de-brief, lunch, another half hour flying, de-brief, tea and biscuits. Job done.
    Spiffing what?

Great pictures - what a lovely blue sky too ! We had that for about an hour this morning but it's been grey for the rest of the day.

  7. They had a spin out at Valley one day last week. Scampton, Valley and back in a morning! No need for the A38, A50 etc, traffic jams.

  8. We always stop to see them if they're up when we're going past Scampton.

  9. It was good but then the sleet came. No snow but cold.

  10. those two almost touching is a great picture

  11. Just not the same noise since they dumped the Folland Gnats.

  12. I think its a bit of 'smoke and mirrors' due to the perspective the photo was taken at. If you look at the picture above of the four, they were all equidistant apart as per the bottom two aircraft.

  13. upside down thou !!

  14. They are brilliant and so precise. Not exactly Easyjet or Ryan Air stuff.

  17. Quite fond of the Hawk and its Adour 151 engine but I'm biased as I get to work with the engine every once in a while as we repair and overhaul them at RR East Kilbride.

  18. Was that today? Need to take a trip up there for a look havent seen em do a display for years but have caught a glimpse on a few occasions. When is good to see them? No2 daughter would be well chuffed!
