The ones who never made it back

  1. had a big yellow taxi ride home yetserday. at about 180 miles into 230 mile round trip the clutch cable decided to give up it's responsibilities. The spare was on a hook in the shed. still, I had food and lots of beer and only had to wait an hour and a half and it took me all of the way home :)

If it had broken 116 miles into a 230 mile round trip it would have broken as soon as you left to come back thereby providing you with an even more impressive saving on fuel costs.:)

  4. Tried to help this poor bus on the way home from techenders. It was on the opposite carriageway on the A11 near a junction so I turned back.
The black lead to the coil was fried in a small section, so I made up a new one, but suspect the coil had gone as it was very hot.
It was on hire from a place in Cambridge and only 30mins from home. Would not even turn over, probably due to some really dodgy looking wiring in the engine bay.

  11. well to add to this, my mum and dad have a 72 in new zealand, this morning i got a text, they were on there way back from a camping trip, and the van got slower, blue smoke, then a ride on a big yellow taxi, the engine was rebuilt two years ago and is well looked after, so its another sad day, so two engines in as many days :-(

  18. In 2013 my bus needed rescuing three times...I was on first name terms with the driver of the rescue truck! Also I found after a rescue it was quite usual for friends and acquaintances to mention they had seen my bus being transported.Hard to miss a red kombi I suppose...
