  1. After bending the living sh!t out of it and getting the perfect angle the steering won't re connect

  3. Needed to be broken to stop kids joyriding

Was hoping it would work but steering not working so had to chop it off, ready for repositioning

  8. Got the jeep chassis back yesterday although we noticed the steering has been attached the wrong way so it's currently more of a comedy clown car!

  10. Since I got this back from my mate who'd welded up the frame for us & finding the steering wasn't right I've not made any time to sort until last weekend!

Charlie & I spent the day in the garage armed with the angle grinder we chopped the front steering out!

We also managed to get it back in & steering wheel bodged on so we could connect it back up, chopped up a bit of ply to sit on & went for a spin round the block!

Charlie steered & I sat next to him with the controller, he was very happy!

  11. We had a couple of hours today & made good use of the chequer plate we got from Rickyrooo last year, chopped it up & bent it a little!

Charlie wasn't very happy today though as we'd made him do his homework before he could join me out in the garage & id stripped the controller down ready to install the switches into the little dash I'd just cut to size!

  12. Had an hour spare so had a look at how we are going to mount the forwards / backwards lever & after attempting a few positions previously so we can operate it with a foot like a real car I failed as it just wasn't working!

So I was sitting in it earlier & had a brain wave, I nearly passed out!

After the blood levels in my head had returned to normal I set to work & we now have something similar to a super car no less!

He's a lucky boy, I'd have given my right arm for one of those when I was a kid.

  14. Never had a go kart as a kid myself yet alone anything like this, to be fair I'm really enjoying working on it just not sure what I'm going to use for the body panels.

The best I had (and it was huge fun) was a traditional gocart made from bits of wood and salvaged pram wheels. The sort where you steer with your feet on the front axle. It was mega fast though. I also made one for our two boys when they were younger which had two wheels at the front and one central rear wheel, it had a salvaged seat from an old plastic school chair screwed onto the chassis. It was as unstable as **** when cornering and they absolutely loved it. We couldn't keep them off it and they had grazes and bruises from the crashes as they played on it for the whole summer.

no intention to hijack your thread but more of an incentive to complete your goal. Here are some pictures of a toy car a friend made for his daughters birthday.....it was a ride on lawnmower...

The chap who made the little landrover is Dean who owns/runs D T Metallic Technology in Stoke on Trent and he restored my Beetle. His skills are really good (his Facebook site has plenty of pictures). I on the other hand have few skills but will soon me trying to get this on a chassis before the kids get to old......(and I cant bend to get in it)

  18. What have you done to me

That mini Landry looks ace, I'm not sure our little jeep will look anywhere as good as that

My lads first comment was that it had a seat, I said yours has a seat & his response was mines just a bit of wood I said he can use a cushion

If you look on the Facebook site of D T Metallic Technology you will see videos of his daughter driving it with Dean and his mother sat in the back.

  20. Wired the steering wheel control in & tested kids caught me joy riding in it so they had a go!

Just need to sort this lot out
