Just started the van for the first time since Techenders and the smell of petrol quickly filled the cab.
Damn fuel hose leaking at the ‘T’ piece. Should have got the correct fuel clips.

I’m now looking for tools to fix it.

If you had not used any clips at all on a barbed T piece it wouldnt have leaked at all...... Overtightening clips that are too big does that.. but proper fuel hose clips are better at spreading the load.

Set up a third wifi access point in the garage so the internet speed in the bus on the drive outside is more like 29Mb/s than 8Mb/s on 4G ...

A pain pulling 20 metres of CAT6 network cable through some trunking alongside a satellite dish feed and an AIS data cable. Took 2 tries as it got wedged near the end. Used a sledge hammer as a weight to keep tension on one end as i fed it in the other end.
Which worried my wife as it swung around near a window...

I chose it from some swatches when it was painted last year, it didn’t have a name, just a code

I cut the end of the hoses off and checked to see if the unbarbed “T” piece had split. All sorted for now as I only wanted to move the van 200m to a neighbours for storage whilst I work on my drive.
I plan on changing all the hoses and the ‘T’ piece ASAP

  10. That t-piece doesn't look good. Try using the blue nylon Tefen fixtures. They're barbed, unaffected by fuel, and don't look like the plumber's been in ;)

    And proper stainless hose clamps.

Used it as an office again. Painted a few spots with Kurust afterwards.
Received my front wheel bearings and fresh gearbox oil from JK. Will do these jobs slowly. Leave old oil to drain over a day for instance..

  12. I have the same idea for after Easter break! Get better signal from the van on the street compared to the flat. Need to do some sorting out this week!

So far this morning .. adjusted the tappets, changed the rocker cover gaskets as they always leak on this new engine if you pop the rocker covers.. bail springs are qute strong so they crush.
Undone the gearbox drain plug .. seemed too easy to undo.. looks like its been dripping gearbox oil.. as the oil on the bottom of the engine seems a bit sticky.. and theres a drip on the gearbox too..

  15. Oil leak? They all do that, sir!

Yes but not when the leak first shows on an engine where the oil level never goes down in its first 10000 miles.. now well into 20000 mile territory...

Will find out more.when I put a bit of sealant on the threads... maybe a new drain plug should be bought...

Changed a front wheel bearing.. the old one had dried up a bit, toasted the grease, spun a bit and the rollers had started pitting and the inside of the outer race is slightly rippled..thats the outer bearing...
Off to inspect the other side and add grease if needed..

Quick sortie to warm the oil and test the brake squeal, which seems sorted . Brakes adjust next job.
