Briefly entertained the notion that I should get around to fixing the now non-opening drivers window, that obviously became detached from its mechanism a few weeks ago.... but decided to bake a pie for supper instead. An hour later, it appears I may not have made enough pastry... so I'm contemplating revisiting Plan A. It's just one long rollercoaster of excitement here, I can tell you

  6. Been rebuilding my Dell's :) trying to decide if I am brave enough to refit them in the rain and wind, not so much shelter at the back of the garage with the door open; three seasons in one day out there, at present.

Being honest with myself, I am trying to avoid doing the housework

  7. For God’s sake don’t start washing your curtain rings! That would just be too much...

  8. Basically... The fibre washer between the two shims on the bottom of the distributor has shredded itself so it started to bounce in and out of driving the distributor and had zero timing going correct. Kept going 180 degrees out.

Managed to get dragged off the hard shoulder and cut some washers to act as shims and drove home fine.

Crazy scenario but I feel happier in the event of a breakdown and diagnosing.

hahaha that would indeed be a step too far. I have friends visiting in mid week, so might stretch to disturbing the resident spiders with a cob web brush though....

  12. I've had a beetle and a campervan since I was 17 and I'm now 24. Most things I'm super competent with!

The AA man was not happy when I said to just get me off the motorway and leave me to sort it as you can't plug your computer in.

He had never seen points and condenser set up before. Granted he was younger than me

  13. Top Tip......try gently tapping the next size up torx in, they wedge in the corners of the allen head. It renders the bolt useless, but it looks like that's happened anyway.

  14. Did try something similar, but just munged it up. Still, done now.

  15. Top use of the word "munged" 10 points.

  19. Got them in, the linkage was a proper bugger. Still, at least they're not stinking out the house.
