  1. Wrestled a 3/4 Bluebird bed into my van, turns out its a full width, but the offside chassis bracket is offset by about 2" and catching on the side wall, the front kick board frame is also about 2" off the floor so I'm assuming its out of a T25?

  3. Put the battery charger onto Tilly to warm through the batteries then started her and gave her a hug for starting so well

  4. Removed and charging up the leisure battery, also thinking about changing from a normal split charge relay to either a VSR or B2B when it’s reinstalled

Doing just the same - had to take the less than year old battery back for a replacement after it went from 12.5v to 12v just from using the LED lights and running a bit of water on Saturday. I checked it was under warranty so killed it by putting the heater in. It ended up at 11.6v Considering a better split charge. I currently have a 100amp standard relay and think I need one if the more intelligent thingies, no idea which one yet.

  6. Your relay has nothing to do with how the leisure battery's charging ;-). Is your alternator working?

Definitely, I have a gauge on the dash that shows what it's throwing at the main battery and one next to the leisure battery too.

Do some relays control when and what charge gets sent to the battery?

  9. If you’re wanting a B2B I’ve seen good reviews of these https://www.12voltplanet.co.uk/sterling-pro-batt-ultra-battery-to-battery-charger-12v12v-30a.html

  10. Controls when (should click when the engine starts), but how much charge goes in depends on the state of the battery. A 100A relay is a bit over the top.

  11. A transit alternator is probably around 100 amps, so might not be too bad.

  12. I'd think if you tried to stuff 100A into the battery, the plates would buckle and it would explode ;-). A boggo 30A relay is fine for split charge.

I think the alternator has a Voltage Regulator to stop that sort of thing happening. I've been having a little read about Voltage Sensitive/Sensing Relays (VSRs) and I think they are a bit better than a standard relay as it only charges when the voltage from the alternator is higher than the battery's own voltage. A good read here https://www.12voltplanet.co.uk/split-charging.html
I've just got to decide whether I spend £10 or £35 *

Covered it up with a tarp, to stop the rain getting into the lightening holes.

  19. Cut my winder handle off with a Dremel, as the allen-head screw had rounded out. Success (in the end).
