  3. I've got one of those hydraulic crimpers too, for the money you can't fault them.

  4. They work pretty well. The dies wouldn’t win any prizes, the valve’s a bit iffy and you need three hands to operate it, but I’ve done pretty neat 25mm2 and 16mm2 cables with it

So here we go then Rich!

Red arrow points to no 29 the catch cover we are on about.
The middle arrow points to a footing 15a for a handle 16 .
The footing is available from Buttys Bits {perfect fit} and my spare handle was very kindly sent/donated gratis by @Lasty :hattip:.

The right hand arrow points to no.32, another cover by the looks of it, and if any one has come across one or knows what its use is I would be interested to know.

  6. Well I never. Doesn’t appear on Ratwell’s fiche. Wonder what the other one’s for?

Where did you get your parts book from, BTW?

You may have to shim the Woodruff key with a cut down slice out of the thickest feeler gauge that fits down the side of the key..

I got a Kafer brand pulley from GSF and it needs zero shims because its profile is wrong. I got so cross with it at Techenders, I "carefully flattened it a bit" with a hammer so it needed at least one shim...

I would love to get my paws on a copy of your book. How much arm bending would it take to persuade you to scan each page?

Edit: Just discovered Ratwell fiches (thanks Snotty)

  9. VW themselves have done it already (we tend to forget about them as a source of parts - they’ve got plenty of good stuff in The Shed). I’ll post a link in a mo...

  12. Today I've discovered my front passenger seat was held in place by cable ties, exciting.

I've got some MG TF seats coming to replace them (none original, battered seats), I now await someone telling me these aren't going to fit. I bought them after I saw the posts about MG seats, now I'm thinking they meant old MG seats. Oh Well.....

I bought my parts book in the early nineties pre karmann classics day.
Ordered stuff from them using the book.
Might have got it from Autocavan..or QB autocamp..really not sure maybe even JK.
Definitely before Amazon and the internet lot though.
Must say that I like the @77 Westy link.

  16. The VW one's quite impressive as well, and you can check their stock of ancient parts. They're not that expensive.

  17. They do fit and are nice and comfy, there is a guide on how to fit them on here somewhere.
