  4. I had to take photo's of it for the insurance so took it for a short drive to get all round views...
    how much is it worth then...the first 1 to get it right I will buy them a pint or 2 if they are at Dent at the weekend

    £16 - 20k is my guess......but what do I know....saw a Herald convertible at a show for sale ...asked him how much ...he said 8 ......thought he meant £800 ...
    until he added that it was insured for 10 !

  7. Took a rorary wire brush to front discs got rid of all rust since Tilly has been sat a while, cleaned and sprayed both front wheels inners just to spruce the lady up.

  8. Drilled out the retard port on the carb and fitted a barb, so I can get manifold vacuum to my air cleaner. Finally, I have a fully operational stock air cleaner avec gubbins.

    Got around to installing the new vac can on the distributor, too.

  9. They're all very similar- I had a T5 for work briefly but it kept breaking down so got rid.

    I finally worked out what was happening as the oil tenperature dropped om the run home the other day. Because the engine RPMs were lower on the hills there was less oil splashing onto the pistons so the oil was not doing as much cylinder head cooling. Added to that the fact the oil level had dropped maybe to 25% above minimum on the dipstick- the flywheel seals never seem to be 100%... so the engine switched from oil cooling to air cooling of the cylinder heads.

    I shall have to do the oil sprayer mod to the con rods - a notch in each side of the rod pointed at the bottom of the piston from the big end bearing..

    the V notch is a good little mod to do when the opportunity arises. We have done it on one of our motors, I think it makes a difference - I have got to relocate the cylinder head temp thermocouple as it reads around 80'C most of the time & I don't think its in the right spot.

    I guess I have new project.

    The LT failed its mot today. Hole in the exhaust. Headlight alignment and blown bulb on fog lamp switch. Sorted now. Waiting for new switch from VWheritage tomorrow and she will be sorted for another year.
