Now you've got speakers for nostrils and "tramlines" to match ;)

  2. Today I have replaced the 46 year old indicators that were so crazed and cracked they were leaking water into the cab. Two new Hella units....... looks lovely but forgot to take a photo before pulling her back in the garage.

  3. Replaced the split rubber elbows on the carb balance pipe / manifold inlet. The old ones were in a shocking state.

Went out to sweep the bus out and ended up finding a patch of rust where the passenger door seal trapped water under the step mat. Cleaned that up.

And remembered from a few days ago this incident ... that during my epic trip to collect the new rear bumper that the bus seemed to be a bit down on power sometimes. Like doing 55 mph flat out and being a bit sluggish. Especially trying to accelerate onto the A3...

But then it would be OK after a bit.

Started up next morning and it was kicking and bucking. Looked in the engine bay .. found the No2 plug wire about an inch above the distributor cap. Sparking and crackling across to the wire.. Switched off , pushed wire back in , restarted no problem.

In an impromptu drag race on Friday night against a Citroen 2CV my bus ran neck and neck to about 50mph and then I pulled away going uphill onto the M27 at Portsmouth West junction.

  5. Nothing to the bus but I took my daily driver CooperS for an MOT which if duly passed:thumbsup:
There's a couple of advisories but it's not too bad for a 12 year old car that gets thrashed without mercy:D

  6. Fitted new cab door cards - liking black more than the original brown ones - too much brown in a 70’s Devon. Might encourage me to get some different coloured seat covers!

Good one in Windmill hill area ... Eldon Terrace?
Two way traffic, room for one car only, cars parked both sides, no passing places most of the time, high kerbs .... What more could you ask for?!

  12. Lovely
Did you buy the contoured piece above the slider or bend it yourself ?

Just spent £141 on four VW brand CV joint boot kits from VWH because the GSF ones seem to have lasted about a year.:(

My first car was nearly a Dyane, the sort of bigger 2CV. All that put me off was the moss growing on the outside. The owner was miffed I didnt buy it for £80 as I went and bought a Marina for £100 from his mate.

At least the Marina would do 80 mph in the left hand lane of the M25 when I had it all to myself on a Sunday night in the days when the lap record was under an hour.

Took the nipper out this morning, cruised the seafront. He’s not been out in the van since Xmas and rather enjoyed it! :)

It turned out Ok in Bristol, drove straight to West End carpark and left it there all day and then over to Clifton Village to load up.

Strange thing on the way back I noticed the oil temperature being 10 degrees lower and the CHT going up about 5 degrees while driving foot mostly hard down south on the hilly A34. Maybe it was because the engine usually gets really hot at 70mph and this time with all the junk it only made 65mph or a lot less .. needed third gear out of Bristol on the M32 on the steep bit just after the 40 limit...
