  1. Make sure you stick a circlip on and it will be fine

  2. I’ve had one of those Lidl ultrasonic cleaners for 5 years and it’s had all sorts through it and it’s still fine
There meant for jewellery but if you keep rotating a pict 34 carb it will get to every spot
Buy proper ultrasonic cleaning fluid it makes a big difference

  4. Drove her round to mum and dad. Came back. Took photographs of engine and am sitting down with photographs and manuals and learning what all bits are and what they do.

I have never had a circlip on mine and it has not fallen out yet ... even since I realised it should have one. But then the rubber grommet where the cable goes in the hub is is so tight I thought it was permanently fixed.

  6. PM me your address @GONA66 and I'll send you one or twenty, they are used on OCE printers that I work on. I have a tub of them in my car, don't pay £2.10 plus postage for something that's costs about 2p. Do you want one too @mikedjames? If you do PM me your address too.

  11. Ok guys I took the crewie for a test drive, speedo now works a treat , the locking up issue at the rear end appears to be good BUT !!!! I now seem to have another issue . Clunking , banging noise coming from the front beneath the seats , not all the time but every 10-15 seconds very off putting. I’ve got back and inspected the front end and all appears good is this a beam issue ? I’m lost.

Refitted the second of my rebuilt and freshly greased drive shafts today. A very messy job that used up a lot of my workshop rags.

Also fitted the engine lid that I scored from the scrapyard bay and connected up the number plate illumination light.

Last job was to fit the new doghouse oil cooler adaptor. Bit of a faff with the engine fitted.

Moved it forwards a couple of feet to get some room behind to work in . Set the alarm off and made the dog howl bark growl and bite me .
Hope he does the same if we get burgled.
