The abuse has to stop!

Mrs ST is a key worker & is employed by the govt. to dish out benefits to those in need at this difficult economic time.... She chooses to walk the 25 minutes to work & back in a cramped office with no hand sanitiser or real social distancing in place. Other than that she doesn’t leave the house.....
She has been threatened.
She has been filmed.
She has even been verbally abused on two or three separate occasions out of car windows by people in NURSES uniforms..... Who the feck do these people think they are?? She has a vital job to do ..... she does it well & anyone else would’ve thrown the towel in by now given the abuse she’s been getting! She’s on the front line same as other key workers but because she doesn’t wear a uniform people think it’s ok to abuse her , film her & threaten her..... If I ever see it happen there will be no social distancing when I’m smashing their f****** faces in! (I wouldn’t do that but it makes my blood boil)
Why can’t people just be nice to each other???

I don’t understand this? She could be taking her hours exercise from their point of view.
We go for a 2 mile walk every morning and haven’t met with any issues. We have a laugh with people as we cross the road to maintain distance.

 

Maybe walk her to work as part of your exercise

I haven't seen or heard of any of that round our way, even when out walking.

This is the power of the news , they make you believe that the world although going through a tough patch as the moment , is all sweetness and light . Show the public a YouTube clip of a Darlek threatening to exterminate on empty street and the public won't see the real world or know of its nastiness . The world does have nice people but they are the minority, by far the majority are as you describe what your wife has experienced from them . To some degree they are acting like sheep trained by the news media to dislike other people out and about in these troubled times ,hence your wife's experience , but the people acting like that probably would do the same in any circumstances, there just bad people weather they be in uniform or not . I speak from experience . People are in general just bad people. Sory to hear Mrs Todd has had the unkind experience

We live in Preston, in a nice leafy suburb but Mrs ST works in the city centre & has to pass a few scummy areas..... people are just horrible!

 

Does she have to walk through Deepdale? Thats about the only place i've had abuse from the locals when i lived there as a student.

 

Sorry to hear she has had abuse for some people but as you know not all front line are nurses or nhs staff but various others that are needed....
I drove past the same police van 3 times in about 10 minutes and they then followed me until I pulled up jumped out unloaded an order for a old dear who couldn't go out... they saw me doing it in a correct way and gave me a thumbs up as I spun the car around to do the next job...just finished 14 deliveries and that means at least 14 people didn't wander the streets shopping.
Tell her we applaud her aswell for doing what needs to be done.
I also have a brother that works in the nhs but in an unmarked fast response car and I would like anyone to have a go at him... at least he could fix the broken bits of body....

 

Terrible. The fact is that there is absolutely nothing stopping people going to work if they cant work from home, key worker or not. People need to wind their necks in and stop worrying about what other people are doing. Idiots

Not Deepdale, no. These are people 5 or 10 minutes from home.... It’s just disgraceful.... I wouldn’t mind but these people must be out & about too?!?!

In extremis good people can behave badly and vice versa. I suspect this is the case. Stress levels are particularly high, especially among 'key workers' and 'frontline staff'. It doesn't make it any less upsetting to be judged or abused by passers by but it does go a long way to explain their behaviour. Mrs ST. would be well advised to remind herself that she is fulfilling a necessary role and Mr. ST would be well advised to giver her a foot massage followed by a nice cup of tea

 

I really think that social media is to blame. Bad feelings these days spread quicker than the blooming virus. Never happened in the old days.

 

These must be the same people who currently cycle down 3 foot wide canal towpaths, expecting walkers to throw themselves into the bushes so they don't have to slow down, let alone use the brakes that came with their bike.

 

Probably not nurses mate.... I work partly in a hospital and see cleaners and other ancillary staff congregating just off the premises to have a fag in their nursery lookalike garb! Anyway, regardless of that give her a hug from me and tell her she’s a trooper. Yep, it’s a fact of life that some of us have to work simply to keep other safe, fed and well. That said some of the knobbers I see every day, doley dossing scumbags who’ve never done a days work in their lives and never will and who are detrimental to society drug dealing theiving scrotes ( have I narrowed it down a bit there, several of those boxes need to be ticked so I doubt anyone here needs to be offended) who congregate outside their houses like they own the street need culling but it won’t be them that die will it.rant rant rant..... anyway. Give your good lady the best and wish her well!

 

@the2ems I agree - sorry @Sproggy4830 but I think that majority of people are decent and hard working and it is the minority that let everyone else down - similar to when I was teaching a class of kids , there were always just one or two nuisances in a class, even though it sometimes did seem as though there were more. @SweeneyTodd - the verbal attacks on your wife are inexcusable and I too would be filled with rage if I were you. Your missus is doing a great job and a small minority are too stupid to know what they are doing - hope she can ignore them and feel sorry for them
