That first catastrophic MOT failure.

  1. My first car. Mini 1000. It was given to me by my sister, with an MOT. Took it for it's MOT when it elapsed. They wouldn't let me drive it home. Basically there was nothing really left of the subframe mounting points. And his foot went through the floor. not a good sign. Every cloud though. We did drive it home and took it apart. Sold the Cooper wheels, engine, rollcage (YEP!) and the interior. Used the money to help to buy our landrover.

  2. Oh, dear. You don't have much luck, do you?

  3. The Landy was a project as well. It had a knackered 2 1/4 petrol engine so we converted it to diesel. Loved it. It went on so many long trips.

  4. Had a vw golf here in Germany .years ago Couldn’t get the emissions low enough. . It took a vacation to Africa last i heard..must be on a beach now sipping margaritas picking up chicks...in contrast Florida stopped doing mot on cars .you can drive any piece of junk . The only downside is the big highways are littered with “extra parts “...

  5. We had a R5 in the family, the battery rotted it's way thru the tray. MOT was the following month, Garage chap said don't scrap it, I just put £15 of fibreglass in that tray
